PREVIEW: The Prodigy / Public Enemy – Metro Radio Arena Newcastle – 26-11-15

Dance titans The Prodigy are heading back to Newcastle this November; this time, they’re bringing some good friends with them.
The infamous Essex trio will be joined by hip hop legends Public Enemy for a cross country arena tour, culminating in a two night stint at London’s Wembley Arena.

The two acts have never been ones to shy away from the spotlight, or controversy. Both have a stack of number 1 and platinum albums to their name, The Prodigy lapped up the controversy with songs such as ‘Smack My Bitch Up’, and Public Enemy have never held back when it comes to political issues.

The Prodigy’s latest offering ‘The Day Is My Enemy’ is likely to make up the majority of the songs played on this tour. However, it’s just as frantic and feral as the rest of their work, and will be just as impressive and monstrous as it was in smaller venues.

Support on the night comes from the unbeatable Public Enemy. A household name in the hip hop world, and outside of it, usually rare visitors to these Isles, they’ll be visiting the North East for the second time in two years. With instantly recognisable songs such as ‘Harder Than You Think’ (this soared to number 5 in the charts after being used as the theme for the 2012 Summer Paralympics) and ‘Fight the Power,’ they’re worth getting down early for, fan or not.

Having already torn apart the O2 Academy at the start of May with a sold out show, it’s highly likely that The Prodigy’s arena visit will be just as immense. With a sprawling setlist covering 25 years worth of hits, this gig is unmissable for fans of the band, new or old.

It’s highly unlikely that we’ll get a chance to see these two behemoths of bands on the same bill again, this close to home. You’d be daft to miss it.

The Prodigy and Public Enemy will play Newcastle Metro Radio Arena on the 26th of November.
